Fars Media Innovation Center opened

In line with the follow-ups done in the past year, the Innovation Center was inaugurated in the presence of Parviz Karami, Head of the Culture and Knowledge-Based Economy Headquarter, and Ismail Ghaderifar, Head of the Center for Strategic Technologies Development, Payam Tirandaz, CEO of Fars News Agency, and a group of managers. The center, which was established in the building of this news agency with the support of the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology, will work to develop the influence of technology and innovation in the field of media and will host startups, students and activists and innovative projects in the field of media.

Influence of technology and innovation in the country's media

Parviz Karami, Head of the Culture and Knowledge Economy Headquarters for the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology, while condoling the days of mourning for Hazrat Aba Abdullah Al-Hussein (AS) and his companions, said: The old and the previous methods are no longer possible, as evidenced by what happened before the Corona epidemic to some of the country's big and old media.

The head of the Communication and Information Center for the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology added: "In the past few years, it has been seen how a big newspaper like Hamshahri, which made most of its revenue from its daily bulletin, turned the ad market into emerging startups like Divar."

Overlapping of different scientific fields with the media

Karami said: "Fars News Agency has shown since its inception that it is concerned with updating and keeping pace with modern media phenomena. Considering that I personally still consider myself a journalist, we are trying to build a lot of capacity in the cultural headquarters of the knowledge-based economy." Share the ecology of the country's innovation in the field of technology with the country's media. Activities in the field of media require knowledge of various scientific fields such as sociology, literature and even artificial intelligence and the like.

Adviser to the Vice President for Science and Technology added: "In the field of media, we see an emerging technology and new innovation every day." A video has been released of former US President Barack Obama saying some sarcastic remarks, produced using deep-fake technology, signaling the emergence of a new era in the media. The Iranian media alone, relying on non-specialist manpower, cannot overcome this attack and the content of the poisoned media.

The Head of the Culture and Knowledge-based Economy Headquarters for the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology added: "Currently, more than 200 innovation centers across the country have been established with the support of the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology in various fields such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, chemistry, aerospace, lasers and many other fields."

A center for the flourishing of ideas

According to Karami, Fars News Agency's Innovation Center can become a center for innovation and flourishing of media ideas and projects presented by media activists. The position of Fars News Agency in an innovative area and the proximity of this news agency with some large and good universities in the country can also lead to further prosperity of this new center.

"With the support of news agency management, students and media startups can settle in the center and turn ideas and designs into media technology products, causing change and job creation. An example of media technology is opinion polling companies. Previously, opinion polls were assigned to large companies." said the Head of Culture and Knowledge-based Economy for the Vice-Presidency of Science and Technology.

Jihad for the culture of the knowledge-based economy

Ismail Ghaderifar, head of the Center for Strategic Technologies Development of the Vice President for Science and Technology, continued the event by extending his condolences on Muharram and wishing to accept the mourning and worship of the attendees, saying: Today, we are inaugurating the first media innovation center in the country, which was established with the efforts of the news agency and the support by the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology. Personally, I am one of the audience of news and productions of this news agency.

Referring to the importance of creating culture in this field, Ghaderifar said: "As the Supreme Leader emphasized, knowledge-based culture should become a common coin in the country, and this can be achieved with the help of the country's media community." Since the late 1970s, terms such as "software movement" and "jihad for the production of knowledge-based products" have been coined by the leadership in society, and this cultural background has led to the country's innovation ecosystem maturing and flourishing significantly in the 1990s. We have now reached the stage where, according to international scientometric databases, we have been ranked 16th and 17th in science production worldwide.

The Head of the Center for Strategic Technologies Development for the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology said: "These emphases and efforts made in recent years caused the country's ranking in the innovation index to increase from 130th in 2015 to 2016 to 64th and then to 32nd and 33rd." The country's innovation index is still developing due to the well-formed trend in the country and there is a positive outlook for the country.

He also added: "according to the decree of the Supreme Leader, in order to form the culture of the knowledge-based economy in the country, the twelfth headquarters established in the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology under the name of the culture and knowledge-based economy. Fars News Agency has also played its part in the field of culture-building of the knowledge-based economy by reflecting the news in this field, and the opening of this center can become the beginning of a new era of new jihadist efforts in the field of media technology."

The Head of the Center for Strategic Technologies Development for the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology added: "According to the memorandum, a joint committee will be formed between the two sides, creating an accelerator in the form of this center and holding startup events are among the programs planned by this committee in The near future will be realized."

Holding startup events

Payam Tirandaz, CEO of Fars News Agency, also said at the ceremony held on the occasion of the inauguration of the News Agency's Innovation Center: "One of the most important fields in the field of media is audience knowledge, and technological tools can be very helpful in the field of audience knowledge." We hope that the Media Innovation Center of the news agency, which will start its activities with the support of the Vice Presidency of Science and Technology and the Culture and Knowledge-Based Economy Headquarters become a forum for pursuing essential media issues in the field of media.
